The Prophetic Standard: Allah says in the Quran, “And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good” (11:115). Patience (Sabr) is often misunderstood as passive waiting. In the Islamic tradition, Sabr is an active, vigorous restraint of the soul from complaining and despair.
🧘♂️ The Lesson for You: Now that the physical hunger has become routine, the real test of Sabr begins. It’s the patience required to stay consistent when the body is tired. It’s the restraint required not to snap at a colleague or a family member when your blood sugar is low. True Sabr is “Sabr Jamil”—a beautiful patience that doesn’t leave a bitter taste in the mouths of those around you.
🛠️ Action Plan: Identify your “patience trigger” today. Is it traffic? Is it a specific person? When that trigger happens, take a deep breath and say, “This is my worship right now.”
