The Silence of Maryam: When Maryam (AS) was faced with the most difficult moment of her life—carrying a child home alone—Allah commanded her to fast. But it wasn’t a food fast; it was a fast of speech. “Say, ‘Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful a fast, so I will not speak today to any man'” (19:26).
🔇 The Lesson for You: Many of us fast from food but feast on the “flesh” of our brothers and sisters through gossip, complaining, or arguing. We leak our spiritual energy through our mouths. The high-performer understands that a fast of the tongue is harder—and more rewarding—than a fast of the stomach. If your mouth isn’t fasting from negativity, your stomach’s hunger is in vain.
✋ Action Plan: Today is your “Speech Audit.” Practice the 3-second rule: Before you speak, ask: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? If not, stay silent. Protect your “soul battery” from unnecessary drains.
🗣️ The Challenge: Can you go from Dhur to Asr today without a single word of complaint? It’s harder than it sounds! Try it and let us know how you feel. ✨
